Troy joined PEAK as the Youth Development Coordinator in September 2024. Born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico, he is a second-generation Latino and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Troy moved to the Pikes Peak region in May 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in psychology at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, focusing on neuroscience and evolutionary psychology. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology from Eastern New Mexico University in 2020, where he conducted research on issues within the LGBTQIA+ community. From his educational background, Troy strives to make a meaningful impact in his professional and personal interactions through shared knowledge and experience. Before joining PEAK, Troy worked as a registered behavior technician, gaining first hand experience with children and youth with disabilities. This role provided him with familiarity of clinical support options for individuals and their families seeking to improve skills applicable to various facets of life. Troy has also worked as a substitute teacher for multiple school districts, gaining experience with students that have individualized education programs (IEPs). Together, these roles deepened his commitment to supporting students and young adults with disabilities in their educational and career development. In his role at PEAK, Troy aims to develop programs and outreach initiatives that empower youth to achieve their goals. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his pets, socializing with friends, watching movies, and exploring new cuisines. He is also an enthusiastic fan of medical dramas, anime, and romantic comedies.
