Sami Peterson is the Personal Networks Project Director. Sami became involved with PEAK in 1995 through the early childhood intervention initiatives in Larimer County. Sami found the PEAK community to be a natural fit, and Sami says that PEAK in turn helped her find her way in becoming a polite, yet persistent advocate for her family. Sami says that her son’s disability helped prepare her for her husband’s disability, knowing the possibility of living a full life with a disability. Evaluating and developing her son’s Personal Network of support using person-centered planning principles and tools has brought meaningful rich relationships into her and her family’s life. Living out what she teaches has been an incredible experience.
Sami is grateful for the opportunity to learn what is really important in life before it’s too late, and in her free time she enjoys reading anything written by Henri Nouwen or John Eldredge. Her favorite quote is by Judith Snow – “The only disability is having no relationships.”
