I am Georgie Meeks, and I joined PEAK in September 2024 as a Disability Awareness and Communication Advocate. Originally from Colorado Springs, I pursued my degree in Fitness and Nutrition at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS). During my time there, I worked at the Recreation Center, first as a Guest Service Attendant and later as a Fitness Center Monitor.
Living in a three-bedroom apartment for two years with two roommates was a valuable experience that taught me independence. I enjoyed taking cooking classes, which quickly became a favorite pastime. To get to class, I often walked or took the shuttle bus, which added to my sense of self-sufficiency.
One of my favorite events is the Drag Show on campus, and I also love visiting local coffee shops for their delicious offerings. I became involved with PEAK through my UCCS Program, which encouraged me to connect with this community. I’m passionate about hearing people’s stories and advocating for them and myself.
In my free time, I enjoy working out, watching TV and movies, practicing yoga and Pilates, and engaging in martial arts—particularly using my punching bag inspired by Cobra Kai. I also like to keep my space tidy while listening to music on my Echo Dot, as I have a collection of lotions and perfumes that I enjoy organizing.
