Amelia Koehmstedt is a passionate and dedicated leader in the disability rights and
advocacy sector, serving as the Executive Director of The Arc of Northeast Colorado
(The ANECO), formerly The Arc of Weld County. With both professional expertise and personal lived experience in the disability world, Amelia is deeply committed to fostering inclusion, accessibility, and empowerment for individuals with disabilities.
With a lifelong dedication to disability advocacy, Amelia has spent decades working to create meaningful opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Her
leadership at The ANECO has driven innovative programs that enhance independence, self-determination, and community engagement.
Before joining The ANECO, Ms. Koehmstedt worked at a local provider agency
providing support for people with intellectual disabilities, improving the quality of life for the individuals served, their families and communities. As a loving family member of several individuals with varying needs, Amelia brings invaluable insight into the barriers and challenges faced by the community, using this perspective to inform systemic change.
Beyond her professional role, Ms. Koehmstedt is an advocate, mentor, and champion for inclusion, whose leadership is fueled by the belief that every individual, regardless of ability, deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to live a fulfilling life, as they self-determine.
