Virtual Parent Book Club
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE), in partnership with PEAK Parent Center, is THRILLED to announce our very first Parent Book Club—and YOU are invited! This exciting virtual book club will help YOU discover new, practical literacy strategies to support your school-age child with significant support needs. We’ll explore the book Comprehensive Literacy for ALL and dive into ways you can bring accessible reading and writing opportunities into your home. Plus, it’s a chance to connect with other parents across the state of Colorado and share your literacy experiences.
WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN?
- FREE Book: Get a copy of the book to support your learning.
- Interactive Learning: Meet other parents, share stories, and gain new strategies to support your child.
- Expert Guidance: Co-facilitated by a Parent Advisor from PEAK and a CDE Significant Support Needs Instructional Coach.
You don’t have to read the entire book, and we will have lots of other resources to share! Whether you want to explore in-depth or just join conversations, this book club is for YOU.

Each week, you’ll get chapters to review, plus videos and resources to explore before our virtual meeting! Future Plans: If you can’t make a session, an evening session is coming in early 2026.
WHO CAN JOIN?
This book club is designed for parents and caregivers of children in Colorado who receive their instruction on the Extended Evidence Outcomes (EEO’s). These students require significant support related to the most significant cognitive disability and complex communication needs. If you are not sure if your child qualifies for the EEO’s, please contact your child’s teacher or email Richter_J@cde.state.co.us for additional information. If your child needs significant support and you’re passionate about supporting their literacy, we’d love for you to join!
LIMITED SPACE
- Commitment: Attend all 6 sessions and return the book if you can’t complete the book club so it can go to another family.
- Space is limited, so applications are not guaranteed. You’ll be notified by September 14, 2025 if you’re accepted.
