Guides to the Colorado Academic Standards (K-12)
Published:
Apr 2015

In 2015, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) released Family/Community Guides to the Colorado Academic Standards, available in both English and Spanish, for ages Kindergarten to Fifth Grade and Sixth Grade to High School.

CDE created these standards in partnership with the Colorado Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to help families and communities across Colorado better understand the goals and outcomes of the Colorado Academic Standards. The guides describe the “big picture” purpose of the standards, as road maps to help ensure that all Colorado students graduate ready for life, college, and careers. They also provide overviews of the learning expectations for each of the ten content areas of the standards and offer examples of educational experiences that students may engage in, and that families could support, during the school year.

Guides are available related to the content areas of: Comprehensive Health, Dance, Drama and Theatre, Mathematics, Music, Physical Education, Reading, Writing, and Communicating, Science, Social Studies, Visual Arts, and World Languages. The guides are organized in multiple ways to support various needs. Check out the links below to access specific grade level and content area guides.
