Educational Surrogate Parent Training

This training is designed to provide participants with an understanding of the principles of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for a student receiving special education services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Participants will gain the following knowledge:

Requirements for the assignment of an Educational Surrogate Parent (ESP) for students in need.
Understanding of the special education process and how to be involved.
What to expect in the IEP process
How to participate in the educational planning for a student.

Retired Teacher
Retired School Administrator
Special Education Graduate Student
Community Volunteer

All the above listed, as well as any individual interested in helping students.
You can support the education of a student with a disability by learning about or becoming an educational surrogate parent.
