Job Posting: Assistant Director, RSA Shift Transition Project

About this Position:

Job Purpose

To sustain the RSA Shift Project during its final grant year by assisting in project and grant management, communication with partners, revision and publication of final project products and completion of other final year activities.  In addition, the person in this position will engage with transition-aged youth with disabilities and families for the purpose of linking them with PEAK’s RSA Shift project resources and other services and supports to assist them to grow their knowledge and to develop self-advocacy and advocacy skills.  The successful candidate for this position will demonstrate high level knowledge and skills in grant and project management with the possibility of advancement to performing additional responsibilities as the year progresses.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Orchestrate project activities; maintain up-to-date records; assist in completion and submission of required government reports.

  • Revise project products using feedback from target audiences.

  • In collaboration with RSA Director, ensure easy access, appropriately formatted, and timely dissemination of electronic products and resources.

  • Serve as a link between the RSA Shift Project and youth, families, and professionals  who participate in project activities or those who could benefit from project activities.

  • Oversee the provision of follow-up services by the project to parent and youth project participants.

  • Provide technical assistance to the parent centers in other states that are part of the RSA Shift Project’s pilot parent center cohort.

  • Train groups of young adults with disabilities, parents, and professionals using project curricula; participate in meetings with the project’s agency partners; attend resource fairs and community events as available.

  • Coordinate logistics for events as assigned.

  • Maintain a monthly work log/report on what is achieved each month.  

  • Participate in monthly check-in meetings with RSA Project Director.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Formal Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and experience with the provision of transition services to young people

 with disabilities who are planning to exit the school system and move on to adult life

  •  Understands and promotes best practice in education, employment, community

 supports, and related services for young people with disabilities

  • Understands and holds strong principles about social justice, systems change strategies, and best practices in inclusive education, transition, and full community inclusion of adults with disabilities

  • Basic knowledge about IDEA, ADA, WIOA and other disability-related laws and the rights and entitlements they provide

  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills, including active listening, in interacting with families, youth, and system leaders

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience delivering engaging training and presentations

  • Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills

  • Strong customer services skills

  • Proficiency with the organization’s technology tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and social media 

Other Job Requirements

  • Hold a current Colorado Driver’s license and have a dependable vehicle with valid insurance. 

  • Must follow proper safety procedures when performing physical job tasks. 

  • Participate in staff development activities as assigned.

  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish language) skills preferred
