October Awareness, part 2
October Awareness, part 2
By PEAK Parent Center / October 14, 2021
Welcome to part two of our October Awareness series! This series shares the many wonderful disability groups and causes that are spreading awareness in October. As stated in part one, in this post, you will find a few global and Colorado based websites to use as resources to learn more, support and connect with each of these groups and causes.
As organizations continue to evolve, please reach out to us to let us know if we missed anything. We welcome feedback as we grow and learn more about diverse populations. We strongly support #NothingAboutsWithoutUs.
Global Diversity Awareness Month is used to remind us of the many benefits of having a diverse workplace. Under the umbrella of Global Diversity Awareness month are National Disability Employment Awareness Month, LGBT History Month and National Work and Family Month. All of these initiatives promote having and celebrating more diversity in the workplace and creating diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace cultures where every employee feels welcome, respected, and encouraged to contribute their very best work.

Sensory Processing Disorder Awareness Month is a time for “parents, educators, therapists and caregivers to rally together to spread awareness of Sensory Process and how it affects children and adults every single day” (Lemonlimeadventures.com).
Rett Syndrome Awareness Month is used to spread awareness about Rett Syndrome and increase support to fund research focused on Rett Syndrome.
World Blindness Awareness Month is a month to bring awareness to the need for screenings to help identify vision issues, increase awareness of services for those who are blind and promote increased opportunities and advocacy for those with vision loss to live more independent lives.
