Job Posting: PEAK Parent Trainer

Job Purpose and Responsibilities

Provide workshops and webinars to parents and educators across the state of Colorado in content areas related to PEAK Parent Center’s grant funded projects.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred

  • 4 years related experience required

  • Skills in training, presenting, and public speaking

  • Experience in facilitating meetings, trainings, and teaching vetted content

  • Knowledge of IDEA 2004, special education supports and services which assure success for students with disabilities, familiarity with IFSP/ IEP/IPE processes, conflict and dispute resolution approaches in a school setting, positive communication practices, behavior supports, early intervention, vocational rehabilitation, transition, and adult services

  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed

  • Experience training and facilitating adult learners for effective content delivery

  • Experience working with a co-trainer to deliver content for workshops

  • Advocacy experience and expertise in systems change

  • Proficiency with databases, Word, Powerpoint & Excel

  • Strong communication, organizational, active listening, and problem solving skills

  • Represents PEAK Parent Center positively to external stakeholders and upholds an impeccable sense of integrity

  • Demonstrated skill in maintaining confidentiality with parents and educators


  • Has a child with a disability (ages birth to 26) who receives or has received special education services in a Colorado school or is a self-advocate with a disability preferred

  • Bilingual (English and additional languages) preferred

Other Requirements

  • Must be able to work nights until 9:00 pm and weekends.

  • Must have the ability to travel statewide and to work long hours at conferences or events at designated times.

  • Must have a reliable vehicle and valid insurance.

  • Must follow proper safety procedures when performing physical job tasks.

  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Approximately 1-2 trainings per month (approximately 155 hours per year)

Location: Trainings to be done statewide. Periodic meetings and professional development to be held at locations throughout the state including home office in Colorado Springs, CO.

Hours: Must be available for trainings as assigned: including nights (3:00 - 9:00 pm) and weekends.

Pay: $15/ hr
